LITIGATION

Litigation

Litigation involves a dispute between two or more entities who formally ask the court to resolve their issues. What follows is discovery, negotiations, and if negotiations are not successful, the case will go to trial. There are many types of disputes that find their way to litigation.

General Civil Litigation

General civil litigation is most common when one or more individuals claim they were injured and suffered damages due to the negligence of another person, business, or governmental entity. The most common areas of general litigation with which we are involved include personal injury cases. These generally arise from car accidents, slip and fall injuries, medical malpractice, and wrongful death claims.

Essentially, any legal dispute in which one party is asking for money damages from another, or is asking for a party to perform a specific act, is deemed civil litigation. No criminal action is involved and no criminal penalties are imposed.
